Rumble in the Jungle

Radio Nonfiction.

I'm by and large a pacifist. High school debating was too confrontational for me. I conscientiously object to heated games of chess. And yet there is something about this story of two dudes trying to hit the shit out of each other that I really, really like.

Promotional material was zany as hell in 1974.

It's one of the greatest fights in boxing. One of the greatest moments in all of sport. I had written an article about it (i.e. aggregated wikipedia entries with smatterings of panache), and then I found footage of the fight on YouTube. The commentary was cool, the interviews were cool, and what's even the point of having this expensive microphone if I never use it, you know?
